Job Summary

IT Software Engineers


Working with a Scrum team composed of individuals of varying backgrounds (UX designers, Developers, Quality Assurance, and Business Analysts), as part of a team to develop or maintain PeopleSoft and some enterprise web applications. The successful SDE will have the ability to work on small to large projects from troubleshooting, analysis development, testing, QA, and delivery. The primary duty will be in the area of PeopleSoft (App Designer, SQL, SQR) but the Engineer may require working with team members with different backgrounds to help them complete tasks outside of your area of expertise. Actively participates in the application fix and software upgrade processes.

The department may choose to hire at any of the below job levels and associated pay rates based on their business need and budget.

Responsibilities
IT Software Engineer, IIAnalyzes and defines software requirements to determine specifications and standards. Proposes software solutions. Determines the cost of new and modified systems and engages in the proposal process. Develops, designs, and edits original applications, or modifies third-party applications. Tests and approves applications. Trains users and writes training manuals. Manages user support and feedback. May specialize in one or more areas of development, including network, operating systems, databases, or applications. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter. May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.This is a Developing-Level position in the General Professional track.Job Code: P38262Grade: P18Expected Pay Range: $56,677 to $110,521

Tests and approves applications. Trains users and writes training manuals. Manages user support and feedback. May specialize in one or more areas of development, including network, operating systems, databases, or applications. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.This is a Career-Level position in the General Professional track.Job Code: P38263Grade: P21Expected Pay Range: $75,438 to $147,104
IT Software Engineer, IVAnalyzes and defines software requirements to determine specifications and standards. Proposes software solutions. Determines the cost of new and modified systems and engages in the proposal process. Develops, designs, and edits original applications, or modifies third-party applications. Tests and approves applications. Trains users and writes training manuals. Manages user support and feedback. May specialize in one or more areas of development, including network, operating systems, databases, or applications. Performs work with a high degree of latitude. Handles the most complex issues. Possesses expert knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to subordinate a group. May act as lead or first-level supervisor.Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.This is an Advanced-Level position in the General Professional track.Job Code: P38264Grade: P22Expected Pay Range: $82,982 to $161,814



Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
IT Software Engineer, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.

IT Software Engineer, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

IT Software Engineer, IV: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.
