Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for providing quality customer service to all prospective and current students and parents regarding room assignments, housing policies, facilities concerns, and other housing related inquiries. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.
Hiring Range
Hourly rate is $18.00 per hour to a maximum of $20.65 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as the first point of contact for prospective and current students and their parents regarding University housing policies and procedures for housing applications, opening, closing, break periods, and facilities concerns. Assumes responsibility for providing quality customer service, resolving inquiries as necessary and appropriate. Researches, analyzes and compiles accurate information in response to questions from students and/or parents. Takes initiative to follows up on issues, communicating with appropriate personnel in and outside the department if necessary. Handles highly sensitive information with confidentiality and tact.
- Establishes, maintains and continually strives to improve office procedures, files and computer systems to support effective operations and/or realize efficiencies. Opens, sorts and distributes mail. Maintains office supplies, equipment and/or inventories, reordering as necessary and/or appropriate within established budgetary constraints. Purchases supplies and materials for Residential Life programs, and maintains supply information for use by other staff members.
- Utilizes Banner, the University's database of record, to manage the department's budget, making revisions and transfers as necessary and appropriate, in an effort to ensure prudent fiscal oversight. Maintains financial and budgetary records in compliance with established institutional data integrity standards as well as other related University policies and procedures. Reviews and verifies all appropriate backup documentation is complete in an effort to facilitate timely workflow. Prepares and analyzes a variety of budget analyses and reports for the Director/Department Head.
- Oversees the Howie's Helpers program during Fall Opening. Hires, trains, and supervises 100+ student workers as they welcome new students to campus housing and provide physical assistance to families moving in. Supervises work study students who assist with in-office tasks.
- Acts as a liaison to other University departments and external agencies as appropriate. Coordinates with other departments as needed to effectively resolve student and parent inquiries. Maintains contacts with external organizations that support students living in housing such as Microfridge and Storage Scholars. Coordinates with external vendors as needed to schedule service and maintain critical department relationships.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
