Job Description:
Madison College is seeking a full-time Student Success Coach/Coordinator to work on a TRIO grant serving first-generation and low-income students and students with disabilities in STEM programs. This role offers STEM-focused comprehensive, holistic, individualized academic, retention, career, and transfer coaching services to TRIO STEM students. The Coach/Coordinator will support attainment of TRIO program requirements and objectives as specified by the Department of Education and will support the strategic goals for Student Access and Success; thereby helping to improve students' persistence, retention, and degree attainment. They will assist students in development of academic skills and in making decisions that positively impact their academic success. Additionally, the Coach/Coordinator will assist students with creating personalized coaching education plans aligned with their educational, career, and life goals. In addition to coaching duties, administrative, event, and/or transfer related coordinating duties will be assigned. Coordinating duty goals are centered around assisting with the overall success of the TRIO program.
TRIO is housed in the Retention Initiatives and Student Engagement (RISE) programs office, which supports students' academic and professional success by providing advising, coaching, mentoring, tutoring, and various engagement opportunities.

Position Details:
Expected Progression: This position includes an expected progression plan. Upon meeting departmental criteria, you will be eligible to receive a $1.00 per hour increase.
Schedule: This is a full-time position at the Madison College Truax campus with some hours at our Goodman South Campus. General office hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm M-F with some evenings until 6:00pm, and the occasional weekend event. Currently this position works three days in office and two days remote (subject to change per college policy).

End Date: This position is a five-year grant funded position through September 30, 2030, with expectation that it will renew based on continued funding.
Deadline: This position will be opened until filled, with a first review date of October 26, 2025, at 11:59pm. After this date, the position may close without notice. This position may be used to fill similar positions within 12 months.

Accountabilities:
- Builds supportive relationships with students to assess strengths, identify academic goals and uncover barriers that may impact success.
- Promotes student persistence by teaching academic success strategies and guiding students in developing action plans tailored to their individual needs.
- Connects students with campus and community resources to support holistic well-being and reduce barriers to academic achievement.
- Responds to faculty alerts and student concerns by providing timely outreach and follow-up to address academic and engagement challenges.
- Offers accessible coaching through workshops, classroom visits, drop-in support and individual appointments to maintain consistent student contact.
- Provides foundational academic planning support and interprets degree progress tools to assist students in making informed enrollment decisions.
- Documents coaching interactions and tracks student outreach to support coordinated care and inform retention efforts.
- Provides program coordination and event management, including determining event and programming needs, scheduling, facilitating, acquiring resources and providing project management oversight for programs or events.
- Contributes to an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of student development theory, academic coaching practices and factors influencing student retention and success.
- Knowledge of campus and community resources that support students' academic, financial and personal well-being.
- Skill in building rapport and engaging with students.
- Skill in assessing student needs and applying coaching techniques.
- Ability to document interactions and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to manage multiple processes, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment.
- Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-3+ years of relevant work experience
