Position Description

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Operations, the Admissions Evaluator carefully reviews and evaluates transcripts for transferable credit and calculates cumulative GPAs for admitted students. The Evaluator also confirms prerequisite courses are fulfilled and/or in progress and calculates major GPAs. As a key member of the Admissions Operations team, evaluators also maintain data and applicant/record cleanliness and provide support to general operation tasks throughout the year.

The Admissions Evaluator
  • Determines course equivalencies and applies applicants' previous coursework towards Seattle University's degree requirements and posts appropriate equivalencies of transferred credit hours awarded and current class standing in the University's ERP and CRM systems, specifically Colleague and Slate, respectively.
  • Serves as an academic policy resource for incoming freshmen and transfer students regarding University Core and major transfer requirements for all undergraduate degrees and is a key contact for academic liaisons throughout the University on academic policy matters related to the onboarding of undergraduate students with transferrable credit.
  • In partnership with Transfer Admissions Counselors and designated Academic Liaisons, responds to inquiries from prospective students, including explaining their completed evaluations, and provides information on university transfer policies and contributes to the overall effort of meeting the University's annual undergraduate enrollment goals.
  • Adds course equivalencies to the online TES database system and assists in the development of effective tools/resources for best practices in communicating transfer course equivalencies to prospective transfers.
  • Assists in maintaining data and applicant/record cleanliness in various ways working closely with other individuals within the Admissions Operations team and Research and Analytics. These tasks may consist of editing small parts of multiple records, general audits, the scanning and assigning of documents, exporting of data for mass corrections, etc.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision and values
  • One or more years of experience in customer service and detailed data entry - educational environment in the areas of credential evaluation academic advising, transfer evaluation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment is essential
  • The ideal candidate will be a resilient and innovative problem solver, have excellent organizational abilities with acute attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills that enable him/her to develop positive relationships with key campus partners and provide personalized attention to prospective students throughout the admissions process
  • The ability to exercise professional judgment to make informed decisions based on experience, reason and policy while considering issues of equity, fairness and historical precedent
  • Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague, CRM experience - specifically Slate
  • Familiarity with TES (Transfer Evaluation System)

Compensation at a Glance

Annual Salary Range: $47,000 - $49,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
