The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, vitally connected to our local area for over 50 years. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Coordinator of Civic Engagement will foster student engagement through civic, social, and community-based initiatives, including voter engagement and outreach. This position will help develop, implement, and assess programs that encourage students to become active, informed, and responsible citizens both on campus and within their communities. The coordinator will work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to create opportunities for students to engage in public service and other forms of civic participation. This position is critical in empowering students to address social issues, participate in the democratic process, and make meaningful contributions to society.
Qualifications:
- Education
- A Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Social Sciences, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field or equivalent experience required.
- A Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Leadership, Social Work, Public Policy, or a related field preferred.
- Experience
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in student services, community engagement, volunteer coordination, or a related field.
- Experience with event planning and facilitating student programs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, staff, and community partner
Preferred:
- Experience working with diverse student populations and community organizations.
- Knowledge of service-learning, community service initiatives, and civic engagement practices.
- Experience in grant writing or securing funding for student-centered initiatives.
- Familiarity with the DuPage County community and its resources.
- Prior experience in a community college setting.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid Remote Eligible: YES
Hiring Range:
8 Salary/Starting salary beginning at $49,640, based on experience.
Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
