(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for archival or museum exhibits, programs, outreach, and processes. Supports archival or museum programs and initiatives. Assists in implementing and administering the museum's on-site and off-site education and outreach programs.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Engages in public outreach to K-12 public and private schools, homeschool organizations, campus community, and community
2. Responsible for researching and writing curriculum related to outreach and developing evaluation techniques to assess program effectiveness
3. Provides input to staff in development and execution of promotional plans related to outreach
4. Assists with special projects and patrons with research and reference information
5. Conducts evaluations of outreach programs
6. Provides research support for exhibits and outreach programs
7. Assists in managing field trips, in-school programs, homeschool days for K-12 audiences, and dialogue-based programs offered to university and adult audiences
8. Provides administrative support to members of The Museum of History and Holocaust Education (MHHE)
9. Assists with collection management
10. Assists with instruction sessions, outreach events and programs
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia driver's license
Required Experience
One (1) year of experience in a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field preferred
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in museums, archives or similar historical preservation field preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Ability to be effective with broad constituencies, including K-12 and university-level students and members of the community
Ability to implement archival or museum exhibits, programs, outreach, and processes and support archival or museum programs and initiatives
Exercises the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of work
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of best practices for museums, archives, rare books and digital repositories
Familiarity with the field of public history
SKILLS
Demonstrates strong problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, independent judgment, technology, and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
