The Provost's Office at CU Boulder is encouraging applications for the Budget & Finance Analyst position! This position supports the Director of Budget, Finance, and Academic Resource Analysis, while also being responsible for specific Academic Affairs campus-wide functions and processes. The Budget & Finance Analyst provides professional financial and budgetary support to the Academic Affairs leadership team including but not limited to, the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Academic Resource Management, Academic Planning and Assessment, and the Office of Faculty Affairs. The position also serves as a financial, budget, and data analysis resource and partner to the Division of Academic Affairs' units to assist in interpreting and implementing Academic Affairs' policies, optimize resources and enhance the Division's budget and fiscal processes. The Budget & Finance Analyst reports directly to the Director of Budget, Finance, and Academic Resource Analysis.

Central to the support of the academic mission is the recruitment, retention and development of faculty, a process managed by the Office of Faculty Affairs.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Budget and Finance Analysis:
- Handles the budget allocations and fiscal resources of Provost's Office annual operating budget and temporary commitments, which includes tracking, providing annual reports, and forecasting future resource needs.
- Handles the continuing budget resource allocation from the budget model including promotion and tenure, retentions, and supplemental commitments by creating journal entries to transfer funding, tracking funding, providing annual reports, and forecasting future resource needs.
- Creates and maintains internal MOUs for retentions and other financial commitments.
- Serves as the Academic Affairs business services support to provide monthly financial and budget reporting and forecasting.
- Produces annual, quarterly, and monthly resource, budget, and financial reports and analysis, in addition to ad hoc requests from Academic Affairs leadership and campus administrators.
- Assist and improve data gathering processes in an ongoing effort to continuously improve data quality. In collaboration with the Oce of Data Analytics, develop dashboards and reports to communicate data in support of strategic resource decision making.
- Gather, analyze, and clean data from several sources, including in-house data warehouse and external benchmark data sources. Improve and rewrite reports to maintain accuracy and compensate for changes due to increased data growth, business process changes, and new systems.
- Analyze data to discover and interpret trends, patterns and relationships and present visualizations.
- Assist with design and develop standardized reports based upon recurring or critical requests.
- Assist with the financial reconciliation and reporting on the campus wide tuition remission budget.
- Partner with the Graduate School, Bursar's Office, and Human Resources to support the processing for Tuition Remission that includes: verify graduate student eligibility for tuition remission; upload tuition remission waivers; allocate tuition remission to correct funding sources; reconcile internal financial statements; and research discrepancies in the tuition remission process.
Administrative and Data Support:
- Serves as back-up data and analysis resource for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Budget and Finance, Vice Chancellor for Academic Resource Management, Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and Assessment, and Vice Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs.
- Assists supporting the campus faculty roster, which serves as the campus source for faculty salary and position information, and is also the basis for school/college faculty scatter plot salary analysis.
- Supports the campus faculty merit exercise, which includes data review and validation, verifying allocation of merit pools, and creating summary reports.
- Assist to provide financial reporting for new and existing academic programs through current data or systems.
- Support the implementation and design of academic program evaluation systems such as Gray DI.
- Help to draft and review MOUs for new academic programs to document financial and operational processes along with performance expectations.
- Update new program budget templates, instructions, and step-by-step guides annually and to reect in-year changes.
- Support to provide market analysis for new degree programs including student enrollment estimates to drive revenue generation and job market review.
- Provide administrative support to the Vice Chancellor of Budget & Finance and the Director of Budget, Finance and Academic Resource Analysis by maintaining shared email boxes, maintaining and updating academic affairs website, updating the various SharePoint sites maintained by academic affairs, and other duties as assigned.
Other Duties:
- Anticipates, interprets and responds to a variety of constituents and issues with minimum direction and the highest level of discretion and judgment.
- Implements and coordinates specific academic affairs' financial budget projects and initiatives.
- Completes ad hoc projects that may have contending and sometimes shifting deadlines.
- Maintains and updates numerous Access databases used by the Provost's Office.
- Supervises Office of the Provost budget and finance shared services student employees.
- Assists with other duties as assigned including but not limited to data entry.
What We Can Offer
The annual salary for this full-time position is $76,602 - $86,169.

What We Require
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field AND a minimum of three years of accounting, finance or budget experience;
OR
Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field AND five years of accounting, finance or budget experience.
