The College of Lake County is seeking innovative and engaging instructors to develop curriculum and teach classes for gifted middle school students in the community. This CLC youth program is dedicated to inspire intellectual, academic, and social/emotional growth through challenging and stimulating courses across all CLC campuses and extension sites.Posting Date:

Adjunct faculty:
Will design and deliver instruction in the assigned subject(s) and level(s) in new or existing programs.
Will fulfill administrative requirements, meet established deadlines and complete required training.
Stay current in compliance training, including compliance under Title IX "Responsible Employee" and, if applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority as a condition of employment.
Will agree to and follow appropriate College and department policies and procedures.
Schedule varies. Weekday evenings and/or Saturday hours are primarily used.
Possible class locations include CLC Grayslake Campus, Southlake Campus (Vernon Hills) or Lakeshore Campus (Waukegan), Braeloch Facility, CLC Advanced Technology Center (Gurnee) or a CLC extension site.
In-person is the only current delivery method.
Required Qualifications
Experience teaching middle school students, including cluster grouping, pull-out, and/or full-time gifted class structures.
Strong instructional and curriculum design skills including curriculum compacting, tiering assignments, and project-based learning.
Ability to differentiate instruction for advanced-level students focused on content acceleration, rigor, depth/complexity, and higher-order thinking skills.
Proven competency in serving gifted and talented students' social and emotional needs including emotional intensities/empathy, peer relationship challenges, and/or the need for meaning/purpose.
Skilled in response-techniques to gifted and talented students' intellectual and development needs, such as twice-exceptional, asynchronous development, and/or perfectionism.
Competency and/or commitment to effectively use common CLC technologies: Microsoft Outlook, Canvas, Destiny, Adobe Cloud, etc.
Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Desired Qualifications
Gifted Endorsement, Degree in Gifted Education or Specialized Training Coursework.
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Education or related field.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Salary $35.00 - $60.00/hour

The number of adjunct faculty hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Adjunct faculty hires and assignments are coordinated by the department chairs.
