Coordinator of Financial Aid
The Coordinator of Financial Aid will be primarily responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office on the Canton campus and assisting in the overall administration of federal, state, and institutional aid. The incumbent will assist the Director of Financial Aid with leadership, management, and compliance requirements associated with the processing and delivery of over $20 million in annual financial aid funds.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform all aspects of the financial aid awarding process, including verification, conflict resolution, loan processing, appeal review, award recalculations, satisfactory academic progress calculations, professional judgments for special circumstances, and C-code and reject resolution.
- Perform federal Return to Title IV (R2T4) and state refund calculations for official and unofficial withdrawals.
- Provide guidance to front-line student service staff at both the Canton and Brockton campuses.
- Monitor enrollment status changes and manage award adjustments for students enrolled in modular courses.
- Oversee summer awarding and award adjustments.
- Manage the financial aid awarding process for all Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA) applicants, ensuring compliance with tuition equity law and state financial aid guidelines.
- Provide confidential and accurate financial aid counseling to current and prospective students, as well as parents, both in person and virtually.
- Directly assist students and families with the completion of financial aid applications, including FAFSA and MASFA, and other online financial aid and self-service options.
- Represent Student Financial Services by participating in new student orientations, open houses, financial aid nights, and other outreach events, both on-campus, off-campus, and virtually. This may include leading occasional presentations and financial aid workshops.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Education, Business, Accounting, Human Services, Sociology, or a closely related field; with two (2) years of experience and/or training involving financial aid operations, loan processing, and computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience administering financial aid in a Massachusetts community college financial aid office or a similar higher education setting.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, including community college financial aid programs in Massachusetts.
- Ability to work effectively and autonomously in a culturally diverse environment with minimal supervision.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Willingness to provide coverage at Brockton campus and other instructional sites.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the Ellucian Banner system or a similar student information system.
- Prior experience awarding financial aid for students enrolled in modules.
- Background in performing federal R2T4 and state refund calculations.
- Experience using FSA Partner Connect and related financial aid systems, including NSLDS, COD, and MassAid.
- Proficiency in multiple languages.
Additional Information:
Position Status: Full-time benefited, state-funded MCCC bargaining union position
Hours: 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.
Salary: $76,153-$85,160, commensurate with education and experience.
Worksite: Primarily the Canton campus. However, assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
