Utah Valley University is seeking a Library Assistant - Equipment Collection Manager.

As the Library's Equipment Collection Manager, you'll oversee our equipment collection, manage the hotspot and laptop program, and train frontline staff. Your role will directly impact our diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and patrons, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to succeed. Summary of Responsibilities
- Oversees the library's equipment collection, including creating and maintaining a budget, assessing collection needs, maintaining existing equipment, coordinating repairs and replacement of damaged equipment, and performs tracking inventory of assets. Works with library billing team on charges due to damage, late or lost equipment. Works with patrons to recover missing or lost equipment. Provides technical support to faculty, staff, and students. Assists faculty with special equipment requests. Gathers collection use data to evaluate services.
- Manages the library's hotspot and laptop program. Coordinates service protocols and processes with End-User Technology Support (EUTS) partners. Develops internal processes for distribution. Coordinates software updates and hardware repairs. Gathers collection use data to evaluate services.
- Provides equipment training to frontline library staff and student employees. Ensures frontline personnel are familiar with the equipment collection by providing monthly hands-on training on the various equipment items held in the collection. Provides equipment use recommendations to better serve and meet the needs of library patrons.
- Works with library management system to create, remove, and update equipment records with accurate descriptions, locations, images, and documentation. Updates and documents library patron records. Runs statistics and inventory reports. Provides backup support with system issues as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including helping circulation services with tasking assignments of student employees during their staff meetings, working with library area technician to provide backup tech support to library staff and computer labs, and assist on support services projects.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from accredited institution with an associate's degree; OR a combination of education and experience specific to the knowledge, skills, and abilities totaling 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in providing technical support and training for audio/visual media equipment and computer usage.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Knowledge of general library practices.
- Knowledge of working with computer equipment.
- Knowledge of working with audio and visual equipment.
- Skills in customer service, interpersonal communication, and computer applications such as Microsoft 365 products, Adobe products, etc.
- Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Ability to provide good customer service to a diverse population.
- Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively in accordance with library and university policy.
- Ability to express ideas and follow directions both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to file accurately in alphabetical and numeric order.
- Ability to learn and take responsibility for assigned duties.
- Ability to train both individuals and groups on policies, activities, and equipment.
- Ability to use computers and common computer applications as well as other standard office equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and minor or routine maintenance on equipment.
