Salary/Pay Range: $65,000 - $70,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
Work Location: Primarily in person, on campus

Summary
The Assistant Professor has content knowledge of general core coursework in education with a specialization in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research. The typical time allocation for tenured and tenure-track faculty in the College of Education is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service. The teaching load for this position is five classes per academic year, some of which may be in-person, online (asynchronous or synchronous), hybrid, or at off-campus locations, with the potential for additional teaching opportunities during the summer. Assistant Professors receive one offload during their first two years of employment (2-2 teaching load). Additionally, the faculty member will develop and refine teaching and assessment practices; advise students; chair and support doctoral dissertations; contribute to the college accreditation initiatives; serve in department-level (Faculty Director, Associate Chair, and/or Chair) and College-level leadership roles (search committee chair and member, committee chair and member); and participate in appropriate state, regional, and national meetings to represent UCCS.

· To be considered for this position, you must possess a doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in Education or related field from an accredited institution.
o Earned doctorate conferred by August 15, 2025
Experience
· Must possess evidence of effective leadership experience influencing organizational success in a P-20 setting
· Must possess experience and excellence in teaching research methods courses (any methodological expertise) in in-person, and synchronous or asynchronous online settings
· Must possess the ability to guide quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods research design on dissertation committees
· Must possess a record conducting quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods research design in education
· Must possess grant involvement
Special Qualifications
· Experience with federal, state, or non-profit grant acquisition is highly desirable
· Experience with applied research and participatory research is highly desirable
· Experience involving doctoral students in research is highly desirable
· Expertise in at least one contemporary P-20 education topical area is highly desirable (e.g., rural education, technology, artificial intelligence, policy, military-connected students, Hispanic Serving Institutions)
· Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly desirable

Essential Functions
- The faculty member would be responsible for teaching, research, and service/leadership per the COE Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure Guidelines. Primary teaching and advising responsibilities will be based on the successful candidate's expertise area (master's level) and in the Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership, Research, and Policy, and may include leadership theory and application courses, student affairs and higher education topics, K-12 leadership, research methods, undergraduate, MA, PhD, and EdD, in-person, synchronous, and/or asynchronous modes.
- In research, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to the research profile of the department through publications and the pursuit of grants and other external sponsored program activities.
- Service and leadership responsibilities will be to the profession and scholarly discipline and will begin at the Department and College and over time expand to the University and System.
