Job Summary:
Eastern Washington University and the College of Health Science and Public Health invite applications for a Clinical Assistant Faculty position to begin August 16, 2025. We will select one or more positions from this applicant pool. The appointments will be for fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic year and will continue as a nine-month academic year appointment.
Clinical Assistant faculty report to the SON director. Clinical Assistants are full-time faculty who are responsible for teaching in classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulated learning environments. Clinical faculty are primarily responsible for teaching, but may also include service on department, college, university and professional committees; research, grant writing, and professional presentations; mentoring student projects, and outreach to the community. Faculty follow all guidance from the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) regarding their position.

The College of Health Science and Public Health is housed in a state-of-the-art facility located in the downtown University District in Spokane, Washington. The expected salary upon hire is $72,419. In addition to the salary the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in nursing
- Unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse license, or eligible for licensure
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification
- At least three years recent clinical experience in assigned clinical area
- Prior teaching experience in a clinical, laboratory, or simulated learning environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with different constituents including students, faculty peers, patients, clinical partners, etc
- Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities
- Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public
Preferred Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in nursing or a health or education related field
- Five or more years recent clinical experience
- One or more years of prior experience teaching in a clinical, laboratory, or simulated learning environment
- Experience working with Canvas or another learning management system
- Demonstrated experience working with or interacting with diverse communities across race, class, ability, sexuality, and gender

Job Duties:
A Faculty Activity Plan will be developed by the end of the first semester of the selected candidates appointment, and will consist of a combination of teaching, research, service and/or release time to perform administrative duties, as negotiated and as needed to meet the business needs of the department.
A typical workload for this position will involve 24 - 30 semester credits of teaching per academic year (80% - 100% of the workload), subject to department needs.

Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach Nursing courses in classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulated learning environments following a concept-based approach.
Teaching also includes the following additional related responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA:
- Meet all scheduled classes
- Plan, organize and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
- Schedule and attend office hours
- Turn in grades according to established deadlines
Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective, concept-based teaching, whether its didactic, lab, or clinical learning.Percent of Time: 100

To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than August 16, 2025.
