Job Summary:

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact and guiding strategic initiatives in a mission-driven healthcare environment? The University of Colorado's Department of Family Medicine is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Manager to lead the execution of our ambitious strategic plan. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of family medicine by collaborating with departmental leaders to implement strategies that improve healthcare delivery, enhance patient outcomes, and foster organizational growth.

The strategic plan is built around five high-level aims:
  • Patient Care - providing outstanding family medicine to every patient,
  • Research - creating and disseminating new knowledge,
  • Training - developing a future integrated family medicine workforce,
  • Community Engagement - achieving health equity through engagement and advocacy, and
  • Our People - nurturing a thriving, diverse, and equitable department culture.

As Project Manager, you will oversee the coordination and execution of more than 20 strategies and tactics aligned with these aims. You will work closely with Strategy Champions, who serve as the point people for implementing key tactics, ensuring that efforts are moving forward on schedule, addressing challenges, and maintaining alignment with the department's goals. Your project management skills will be vital in organizing regular status meetings, tracking progress, and reporting updates to the department's Strategic Planning Oversight Committee and stakeholders.

This role will also involve navigating the change management process, helping team members adopt new approaches and work collaboratively toward shared objectives. With your leadership, communication, and coordination, you will create transparency, foster accountability, and ensure that everyone understands the strategic vision and their role in achieving it.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an impactful plan that will enhance patient care, expand excellent education, support innovative research, help connect with communities, and create a more equitable, engaged, and collaborative department. If you are a proactive leader with a passion for driving strategic change and working in a collaborative healthcare environment, we encourage you to apply and help us shape the future of family medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of strategic goals/metrics, timelines, and objectives for each initiative.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans to track and monitor progress, ensuring alignment with department objectives.
  • Manage changes to project scope, timelines, and resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with Strategy Champions to identify resources required for tactic implementation and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Lead regular status meetings with Strategy Champions, fostering accountability and addressing obstacles to keep projects on track.
  • Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with resourcing and objectives.
  • Report regularly to the Strategic Planning Oversight Committee, synthesizing strategy updates and providing clear insights into project progression and any necessary escalations.
  • Provide comprehensive progress reports on strategic plan execution for the Department of Family Medicine.
  • Serve as a guide and point-of-contact for addressing queries related to strategy and tactic implementation.
  • Act as the primary liaison for departmental communication related to strategic plan progress, keeping all stakeholders informed through status updates, newsletters, or meetings.
