Job Description:

Academic Support Services at Madison College is seeking a Part-time Academic Engagement Partner. This role involves delivering structured tutoring both in-person and online, targeting students requiring extra support in core concepts, homework, or tests for credit level courses. As an Part-time Academic Engagement Partner you will aim to enhance, increase retention and academic achievement by assisting students with coursework, building student confidence, cultivating effective study habits, while promoting essential life skills conducive to learning. Additionally, they collaborate with faculty on specific course curriculum activities and planning to further support student success.

This position will be located at Goodman South Campus and also spend time at Truax Campus.

This is a part-time, 20-hours-a-week, 42-weeks-per-year position. Varying working hours Monday through Thursday 7:30am - 7:00pm and Friday & Saturday 9:00am - 3:00pm.

  • Engage with Students in-person or online in tutoring appointments
  • Create support materials, collect and analyze data
  • Promote and Support Student Achievement Center
  • Support Students with Additional Services Related to Tutoring
  • Provide Mentoring and Training to other tutors and staff
  • Collaborate with others in the College
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.
  • Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of academic, personal and career pedagogies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student learning styles and tutoring strategies
  • Ability to plan and organize work responsibilities in an effective and timely manner to meet the needs of students.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members in an ever-changing demanding environment.
  • General knowledge and use of academic technologies, devices and formats.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred Health Sciences, Nursing, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, Mathematics).
  • Two (2) years of academic support in secondary education, tutoring experience in secondary education, working with diverse populations. Preferred experience in post-secondary education.
  • College Reading and Learning Association certification (must be obtained within first year).
