Position Description

Seattle University, a private Jesuit institution, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our SU Pep Band as the Assistant Director. This part-time, 10-month position will support the Director of the SU Pep Band in all aspects of the program, with a focus on rehearsals, music management, and occasional performance leadership. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music, experience in band management, and an understanding of the mission and values of Seattle University.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Pep Band with rehearsals, ensuring efficient and productive practice sessions.
- Manage the music library, including organization, distribution, and upkeep of music for performances.
- Direct performances in the absence of the Pep Band Director.
- Support logistical aspects of Pep Band events, including performance setup and breakdown.
- Provide light administrative support, such as communication with band members, scheduling rehearsals, and tracking attendance.
- Assist in recruitment of future SU Pep Band members.
- Collaborate with other departments and groups at Seattle University to enhance the Pep Band's role within the broader campus community.
- Uphold the Jesuit values of Seattle University in all activities, fostering a community of inclusivity and respect.

Qualifications

- Experience with conducting or assisting in the direction of a band, preferably in a university or athletic setting.
- Strong musical skills, including knowledge of band instruments and arranging or transposing music.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage a music library and handle administrative tasks.
- Ability to lead rehearsals and performances in the Director's absence.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Seattle University, particularly its Jesuit, Catholic identity.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Music or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with college athletics and pep band traditions.

Compensation at a Glance

Salary Range: 20.00-21.000

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
