Position DescriptionThe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, Associate Professor position in the AI/Bioinformatics field to begin September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will have a background in research related to AI/Bioinformatics applied to neurodegenerative diseases or related applications in areas such as: pattern recognition, multi-omics, biological data visualization, and foundation models in healthcare.

Position Description
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, Associate Professor position in the AI/Bioinformatics field to begin September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will have a background in research related to AI/Bioinformatics applied to neurodegenerative diseases or related applications in areas such as: pattern recognition, multi-omics, biological data visualization, and foundation models in healthcare.

Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Two years of teaching experience at the university level, including undergraduate and graduate courses taught as a graduate student and/or faculty member.
  • Record of outstanding research as evidenced by a demonstrated record of securing competitive research funding as PI, scholarship via high quality publications and citations, supervision of PhD students, and other appropriate metrics.


Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • Proven record of research scholarship.
  • Demonstrated a strong commitment to teaching scholarship and practice.
