About the Department:

Perkins School of Theology is one of the 13 seminaries of The United Methodist Church and one of only five university-related United Methodist theological schools, located in the heart of Dallas, Texas, with an extension program in Houston/Galveston. The faculty and staff of Perkins are committed to our mission of equipping persons for faithful leadership and Christian ministry in a changing church and society. Students study with a faculty, diverse both culturally and in theological perspective, in the School's graduate degree and certificate studies programs. Perkins is Wesleyan by tradition, United Methodist by affiliation, inclusive of diverse Christian expressions, and welcoming of all. About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The Perkins School of Theology Registrar and Director of Academic Services serves as a liaison to the University's Registrar's office in all matters pertaining to students' records. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, and process all aspects of students' academic records, as well as manage and maintain all related academic databases. The Registrar helps to ensure the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and security of student data and academic records, contributes to the adherence to policy, and provides support for academic programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Registration and Record Keeping: Oversee and provide support to students and departments in all aspects of enrollment. Maintain timely and accurate academic records. Coordinate with University Registrar's Office on record processing and degree conferral.

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the areas of student advisement, degree audits, and degree conferral. Arrange for the assignment and training of academic advisors. Provide reports to faculty and serve on the Student Development Committee and Committee on Academic Programs.

  • Serve as the catalog liaison between Perkins and the University Registrar's Office by helping to collect, review, and edit catalog copy in time for the annual publishing of the academic catalog.

  • Help coordinate the Perkins School of Theology degree recognition ceremonies in the Spring and assist as the Perkins proctor with the all-University commencement ceremony in December.

  • Oversee the processing of special requests, such as international students, auditors, assignment of academic advisors, and course schedule development for both the Dallas and Hybrid programs.

  • Assists Accreditation Liaison Officer (current, Chief of Staff) with program assessment and compliance with the policies of accreditors, other overseeing bodies, and the university.

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional evening/weekend hours necessary for graduation events.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in higher education is preferred.

A minimum of five years of experience is required. Experience with record keeping and management is essential.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze situations of students and faculty on an individual basis and problem solve based on student and faculty needs and available resources. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate ability to develop graphs and charts from data and produce relevant reports is required.

Candidate must be able to follow accreditation guidelines as relevant to the Registrar's office.

Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
