Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, to teach conventional machining, CNC machining set-up and operations in a related and laboratory atmosphere; and to provide general support and curriculum assistance to learning activities in related subjects in the area of machine tool operations and programming. Related duties include participation in division and department activities and the performance of other duties as assigned.

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Required Minimum Education:
  • Must have completed a Wisconsin Registered Apprenticeship in Machine Tool or Tool & Die OR
  • Met Wisconsin State Apprenticeship standards in Machine Tool/Tool & Die

Required Occupational Experience:
  • Must have 5 years (10,000 hours) of work experience in Machine Tool.
    • In addition, oneof the following must be met:
      • At least one year of experience must have occurred within the past 5 years OR
      • Two years of teaching Machine Tool coursework at the post-secondary level within the last 5 years (1 year of teaching experience equivalent to 2 semesters full-time, or 4 semester part-time).

  • Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with social networking applications)


Supplemental Information


Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start in the spring semester beginning in January 2025; primarily looking for candidates who teach classes during week days.

Hours/Location: This in-person position is a .5 FTE and the number of hours worked per week will vary based on course load. Hours and location are based on enrollment and departmental need.

Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
