What We're Looking For
The Police Officer serves within the Department of Public Safety and reports to one of the Patrol Lieutenants. This position will work closely with the other members of the Baylor PD staff, Baylor faculty and staff, students, guests of Baylor, and external first responders. The position enforces federal and state law and Baylor University policies while patrolling campus. The successful candidate will have the ability to relate to all members of the Baylor community, a desire to help others, the ability to demonstrate good judgment under pressure, and demonstrate integrity in all job duties.
All applicants shall possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Preference will be given to candidates with an Associate Degree from an accredited Junior College or 60 college hours from an accredited College or University. Additionally, applicants must be a minimum of 22 years of age at the time of their commissioning with the Baylor University Police Department, and possess a current Texas Driver's license or be eligible to obtain a Texas Driver's license.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Applicants who have had more than 2 moving citations in the past two years will not be considered
- If the applicant's driver's license has ever been suspended, that will be an immediate dis-qualifier.
- Applicants must have active peace officer certification with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
- Cadets who are currently attending the Basic Peace Officer Course in a Texas licensed policy academy are eligible to apply.
- Texas out of state candidates or military personnel who are eligible to challenge the Texas Peace Office Licensing Exam are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants must meet all Texas Commission on Law enforcement licensing standards set forth in the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Statutes and Rules Handbook Chapter 217; 217.1. Minimum Standards for Enrollment and Initial Licensure.
