UIW Mission

Position Summary
The Sponsored Projects Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of extramural funding initiatives for the UIW Community. Specifically, this position provides professional research support services to an academic community of scholars, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to support research development and extramural research activities. The Sponsored Projects Coordinator reports to the Dean of Research and Graduate Support.

This position is considered a "Responsible Employee" under Title IX federal regulations and "Mandatory Reporter" under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Job Duties

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of major sponsors policies and procedures;
Ability to plan, organize, and integrate information pertaining to sponsored projects;
Ability to make decisions, and attain results;
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
Ability to work effectively within a team environment;
Ability to work successfully with faculty on a one-on-one and small-group basis to match faculty research interests with external funding opportunities and assist with grant submissions;
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of pre- and post-award research procedures and requirements;
Knowledge of project budgeting and fiscal management;
Computer skills, proficiency with spreadsheets and database software programs, and ability to manage and update web content;
Knowledge of Banner enterprise software;
Knowledge of federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations related to grants and contracts;
Project management skills;
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Bachelors Degree.

Required Work Experience
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in higher education, private sector, or non-profit agencies working with sponsored projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years experience in research administration, research compliance, and/or research support in higher education.
Masters Degree

Work Hours
Standard work week of Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexible hours and some weekends as needed. A telework and alternate work schedule will be considered upon completion of 6 month introductory period.
