Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is primarily responsible for increasing revenue and enrollments with the Dean and leadership team; conduct/guide market segment research, perform competitive and need gap analysis to support new program development, guide strategic marketing launch and sustained campaigns in conjunction with Program Coordinators, Dean and COD Marketing; cultivate centers of influence as partners in COD CE outreach efforts, while further developing strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and in-kind advertising trades; manage visibility events with partners from across campus and across the community to provide service/information while increasing program, unit and overall institutional visibility; conduct program and product line reviews to identify underperforming programs, to set revenue and enrollment goals, while identifying new opportunities, regional trends and informing future programmatic directions.

  • Create Integrated Marketing and Communication Plan with Dean.
  • Manage implementation and modification of plan, including coordinating all collateral between CE Program Coordinators and COD Marketing, ensuring college brand standards are upheld, while developing sub program brands and brands within Youth Academy, Adult Enrichment, Adult education, Public Services, Homeland Security and Business Solutions.
  • Responsible for program brand and sub brand management, and supervision of Program Coordinator staff.
  • Collaborate across campus between programming and marketing functions.
  • Increase enrollments and revenue through successful implementation of the IMC and continuous improvement of programs and services.
  • Lead Advanced Program Development Group (skunk works team) and new program development.
  • Serve on CE Leadership Team.
  • Oversee program research including market segmentation analysis, competitive analysis and regional educational needs gap analysis to support rapid program prototyping.
  • Create CE marketing budget and resource allocation and monitor monthly expenditures necessary for success in a cost-recovery system.
  • Serve as chief editor for all CE publications, collateral and social media in coordination with the larger College Marketing department.
  • Assist with short and long-range divisional planning and budget goals.
  • Coordinate comprehensive timeline of CE publications, brochures and advertising with COD Marketing.
  • Monitor enrollment trends to proactively address external threats/opportunities as well as internal capabilities to support overall growth and increased market share.
  • Perform due diligence in assessing new programs with Program Managers, Dean and Program Coordinators as to cost/benefit, ROI, market potential and program life cycle.
  • Develop individual program marketing actions plans and prepare publicity in cooperation with the Program Managers, Program Coordinators, Dean and COD Marketing by writing promotional copy for the class schedule, brochures, flyers, news releases, paid advertising and the COD website.
  • Create departmental newsletter, CE social media presence and support internal communications, cataloging all CE ads, events and press exposure in conjunction with COD Marketing.
  • Compile and analyze program revenue and enrollment statistics and prepare reports as required by the Dean, Continuing Education Program Managers, and Associate Dean.
  • Review, revise and update course descriptions, curriculum, textbooks and multi-media enhancements.
  • Manage CE customer database with campus partners to maximize strategic outreach and engagement, up to and including researching and recommending alternative CRM systems, email marketing systems, etc.
  • Provide high quality service in all interactions with community members, business contacts, college faculty, staff, administrators and students.
  • Serve as a program advocate, performing sales and promotional support including speaking at centers of influence, events
    and advising and counseling students on course selection, making recommendations for sequencing and placement to
    ensure correct choices to fulfill educational needs.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements as necessary and perform due diligence in support of new programming,
    marketing in-kind-trades, etc.
  • Establish and monitor program quality in conjunction with the Program Managers, Continuing Education Program
    Coordinators including assessment surveys for program planning, implementation, analysis, reports and presentations to
    support ongoing continuous improvement of existing programs, decision making to discontinue, suspend or modify
    programs.
  • Represent the college at local, national and international meetings, workshops and conference related to adult higher
    continuing education.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Managers, Continuing Education Programming Coordinators, Dean and COD
    Marketing to revise Continuing Education web pages, all collateral, advertisements, etc.
  • Suggest/create new programs, delivery models and program groupings to maintain a dynamic program portfolio.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor's degree in continuing education, business, marketing or related field required.
      • MBA Marketing Concentration preferred.
    • Experience
      • 3-4 years marketing experience including brand and program/product management, marketing plan implementation, and managing marketing collateral in a program development, continuing education or training environment required.
      • Experience in adult programming, experience teaching adults through a community college or continuing education program, and experience working with cost-recovery type programs and budget(s) preferred.
      • Experience managing customer relations database preferred.
      • Experience at graphic design, web design and layout a strong plus.


  • Computer (Mac and PC), multi-line telephone, calculator, copier, various printers, electronic typewriter, and scanner, CRM software and email marketing programs.
  • Pleasant office, non-smoking.

  • Some regional travel required to COD satellite campuses, business partners, etc.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.


  • Pay Grade:
    Managerial 7 Salary - Salary Range: 72,000.00 - 76,000.00

    Competitive starting salaries are dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
