College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine, and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary
Provide accounting support for the Department of Pediatrics Administration (Business Office). Assist in making decisions around financial data related to department fund (i.e., state dollars, grants, contracts, clinical support, foundation accounts, etc.). Provide financial reports to department leadership and pediatric divisions on a regular basis.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Assist the Business Office with various accounting functions including, but not limited to preparing and reconciling accounts, providing accounting reports, performing database entry and maintenance, validating data, preparing, providing, and presenting monthly financial reports to department leadership and assisting Business Manager with annual original budget preparation. Assist with negotiating contracts on an annual basis and draft contract agreements. Route required grant and contract documents to appropriate offices on campus: Dean's Office, Legal, etc. Interact with sponsors and agencies throughout the term of grants and contracts when questions or issues arise. Prepare contract invoices, verify receipt of payments, and research and resolve discrepancies. Determine the proper processing procedure and accounting codes to complete payments and reimbursements through different funding sources (i.e., state/campus, AUMA, Foundation, etc.). Validate expenses to ensure expenses are within budgetary guidelines. Ensure regulatory compliance guidelines, policies, and procedures are followed. Assist Business Manager and P.I.s with routing grants, contracts, budget amendments, F&A Exception forms, Authorizations to Budget, Cost share forms, cost transfers, etc. Prepare payroll for Exempt and Non-Exempt employees. Document and verify leave. Train faculty and staff to ensure they are compliant with department and institutional payroll and leave policies and procedures. Perform special projects assigned by Business Manager, Department Administrators and/or Chair. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work independently as well as with a group. Make responsible professional decisions. Exercise sound judgement, multitask, and prioritize. Experience in knowledge in accounting practices. Preferred experience with PeopleSoft Financials.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days Mon-Fri.
Pay Grade: 12
Salary Minimum: $15.06- $19.58 hourly.
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
