The Assistant Coach - Pitching supports the development and success of the pitching staff by assisting the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating pitching-specific training programs. This role focuses on enhancing pitchers' technical skills, game-day performance, mental approach, and overall athletic development. The Assistant Pitching Coach works closely with athletes to improve mechanics, command, velocity, spin, and pitch strategy while fostering a positive and competitive team culture.Posting Date:

Coaching and Training:
- Design and implement pitching-specific training programs to improve velocity, spin rate, command, and pitch variety.
- Teach proper pitching mechanics to maximize performance and reduce injury risk.
- Conduct regular bullpen sessions, pitch sequencing drills, and situational training.
- Provide individualized development plans tailored to each pitcher's strengths and weaknesses.
- Utilize video analysis and pitching technology (Onform) to evaluate performance and track progress.
- Oversee pitchers' arm care routines, recovery plans, and injury prevention programs.
- Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff on conditioning programs specific to pitchers.
- Educate athletes on proper nutrition, mobility, and recovery techniques to maintain peak performance.
Game Day Support:
- Develop pitching strategies based on scouting reports and opponent tendencies.
- Assist in pitch calling and in-game decision-making to maximize effectiveness against hitters.
- Monitor pitchers' workload and stamina during games to ensure optimal performance.
- Adjust in-game pitching approaches based on hitter matchups and game situations.
Recruiting and Team Management:
- Evaluate and recruit pitching talent to strengthen the program's competitiveness at the NJCAA level, and make recommendations to Head Coach.
- Communicate effectively with prospective athletes, families, and recruiting coordinators.
- Stay updated on the latest pitching trends, drills, and technologies to maintain a cutting-edge program.
- Foster a positive, competitive, and disciplined pitching culture within the team. Provide mentorship to athletes, emphasizing confidence, resilience, and mental toughness.
- Encourage open communication and build strong relationships with pitchers to support their growth.
Administrative Tasks:
- Record pitching statistics, playing time, and scouting reports.
- Participate in program planning and team events.
Other Duties:
- Maintain current knowledge of coaching methodologies.
- Ensure adherence to NJCAA, institutional, and team rules.
- Contribute to an inclusive and positive team culture.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience playing or coaching pitchers in the sport of Softball.
- In-depth knowledge of soccer strategy and positional responsibilities.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.
Compensation:
$5,000.00/yearly stipend

Hours will vary based on the athletic calendar and departmental priorities.
